You might be an ally if you’ve ever wondered: Can I fix this? Is this my fault? (The answer to both, by the way, is no.) Having been both a mental health warrior and ally, I know for certain these two things:
1) Your warrior needs you. Not to fix it, but just to be there. To remind them they are loved. That they don’t have to go through this alone. That they aren’t losing your friendship. That they are worth it.
2) That is a hell of a lot easier said than done. I know. But it does help; it’s not in vain. One day, they will thank you for being there, maybe through a text, or maybe muffled through ugly-crying. They may not be able to express it at all. But know this- you being there holds more beauty than you could ever imagine.
